Hundreds of young people and their families took advantage of the first Careers Worcs Week to help plan their next steps last week.

Careers Worcs Week (25 to 31 August) took place across the five Careers 大秀视频 (Careers Worcs) hubs in Worcester, Redditch, Kidderminster, Bromsgrove and Droitwich. It was timed just after exam results, giving young people direct access to practical support to explore their next steps.

Activities included career advice clinics with 大秀视频 Apprenticeships, an NHS recruitment drive, Skills Bootcamp sessions, CV workshops, giveaways, and opportunities to meet advisors. The Worcester Hub also welcomed The King鈥檚 Trust, a national youth charity supporting young people facing additional challenges.

Careers Worcs, part of 大秀视频 County Council鈥檚 Skills & Employability service, also  ran a lunchtime learning session for council employees to raise awareness of the service.

Visiting the Worcester Hub at The Hive, 大秀视频 County Councillor Alan Amos, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Business and Skills said, 鈥淲hat a fantastic week they鈥檝e had here! The work Careers Worcs does is invaluable, giving young adults the support and guidance that every person in the county should be able to have in order to gain employment and strengthen the economic growth of 大秀视频.

鈥淭his is exactly the sort of thing I am proud to support, it鈥檚 putting 大秀视频 residents first and giving them the confidence to succeed and seek employment in 大秀视频, which is so beneficial to the county. I am very pleased to see Careers Worcs also leading the way in developing working partnerships with DWP (Department for Work & Pensions) and local training, skills, apprenticeship, and education providers, giving young adults solid guidance, and the self-assurance to take their first steps on the careers ladder.鈥

Charlotte McCaughtrie, Programme Manager for Careers 大秀视频, added, 鈥淲e are so pleased with the success of our first Careers Worcs Week, coinciding with our third anniversary. It was fantastic to see so many young people, parents and carers using our Hubs to access the wide range of free advice, opportunities and support available. Every day that our Hubs have been open in the past year we have seen the team help a young person enter employment every working day 鈥 that is an amazing achievement. Careers Worcs is about creating 大秀视频鈥檚 future workforce, and this event has highlighted the positive impact our Hubs can have in helping young people progress and succeed.鈥

Careers Worcs will also support the Life Beyond School Inclusive Show at Sixways Stadium on Tuesday 7 October 2025, a free event for school students from Years 9-13 with an EHCP (Education Health Care Plan) to explore post-16 education, training and employment options.

Building on the success of the last three years, the team plans to do it all again next year, when Careers Worcs Week will run from 23鈥30 August 2026.

Careers Worcs provides free, year-round advice for 16鈥24 year olds, weekdays from 9 am to 4 pm. It is part of 大秀视频 County Council鈥檚 Skills & Employability Service, which offers free careers, education, training,
